Decoding Raw Capture
There are now more modern ways to do this, when quality really counts.
There's an opensource hardware gadget which digitizes the raw signal, and software to decode it. So far, this is DIY, but there's some interest in putting together kits or premade units. However, even in that case, you need to connect 2 wires to a specific point in your unit, which you have to identify. There are other ways, using specific Linux drivers for capture cards based on the Conexant cx2388x video decoder chip. Do you have any info on how to use the BT 878A / cx2388x directly with the raw signal ?
I haven't digitized tape in more than 15 years now, but would like to get all the quality possible out of them before they kick the bucket (if they haven't already). edit: this board seems to have updates on the subject: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/...gnals%29/page3 and the linux driver for more control over cx2388x: https://github.com/happycube/cxadc-linux3 and a google doc with instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...Vu7OYoRg/edit# Last edited by Filker; 3rd December 2019 at 01:35. |
