What avisynth filter increases contrast intelligently only for low contrast parts?

Hi,

I have a video with some parts being dark with low contrast, while some other parts have reasonably good contrast with bright areas.

If I use filters like Tweak to increase contrast of the low contrast regions, naturally the ones with high contrast gets washed out in the brighter spots.

I need suggestions of Avisynth filters that can intelligently increase contrast where it is needed.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response. Yes, I got the suggestion from somebody and just started to play around with it with some arbitrary parameters. Not yet satisfied, since I need to learn how to tweak the parameters better. It's a powerful tool, but needs time to control and apply successfully!

Is there any other out of the box filters to be tried with just the default options?

bump.

I'm also looking for the best way to "intelligently darken" my video. Mainly by making the darkest areas a little darker without effecting less dark, neutral and light hues.
