I find it weird that they just... disappeared. Not even a hint of what might have happened.

Also, if I have a copy of the installer and the binary license file (lifetime license), can I install and use that version of the software?

So, with that out of the way, what is "shady" about the business model?

Anystream worked by "calling home" so it wont work.

I'm not sure about AnyDVD or their other software.

That company have broke multiple international laws and IPs, if it ever got seriously big and threat to big corporations no wonder bigger and stronger players took it down.

You have proof of that statement? Or is that like all the rest, speculation? Because to this date, I've seen no evidence that it was "taken down". The DNS records have been deleted so it's as if the site/company never existed. But who did that and why is not something that to my knowledge anyone outside of Redfox knows. All the speculation in the world is not going to change the simple facts that no one knows and they are in fact gone. No sense worrying about it now unless they pop back up at some point.

As for AnyDVD, I was told that as long as you have the keydb configured, it will still work for new UHD's. AnyDVD never supported the keydb for blu-ray so it's likely those won't work given that the OPD is offline (outside the discs already supported in the latest version, that is). XReveal is a good alternative solution to those who still need AnyDVD's real time decryption functionality.

AnyStream was more complicated and as mentioned required a server connection to work. This was both a benefit and a curse. The decryption was handled on those servers which means when things changed they could often fix it behind the scenes without requiring new versions. The curse is, now that those servers are gone, AnyStream no longer functions in any capacity. If the functionality that AnyStream provided is important to you, there are other solutions out there that may fit your particular usage. Be prepared, however, none of them are cheap.

I for one will miss RedFox. They had excellent products and really good developers. Until we hear from someone that worked there, we'll never know what really caused the company to disappear.

Is there some place explaining how to use the keydb files with AnyDVD (if it's something possible) ?

Open the AnyDVD settings, navigate to the UHD options, and then use the browse button to select the keydb.cfg file on your system. To get the keydb you have to download it. Given that it has to be updated regularly for new keys, you should search for FindVUK here on the forum as that'll allow you to synchronize it quite easily to keep it updated.

I would not bother with AnyDVD. Try out Xreveal.

https://www.xreveal.com/

How to use it:

https://www.xreveal.com/how-to-use-xreveal.html

I'll have to ask the site owner if he could change the grey font to black, as it is hard to read.

Xreveal is almost a carbon copy of AnyDVD, and the way things are at the moment, his program could replace it.

My overall setup are the players enhanced by libaacs and libmmbd64 plus keydb.cfg !! Only if there are problems I use xreveal.

But Xreveal is certainly the way to go now because it works perfectly (99,999 %) and is actively developed. Highly recommended if a user wants/needs an alternative for AnyDVD !!!

I'll check Xreveal i didn't know.
What about DVDFab ?

Never mind, it seems DVDFab needs mandatory internet connection, so not an option for me...

I've checked Xreveal and buy Pro, it will support the dev.

The great ability I like about AnyDVD and Xreveal is that they decrypt in real-time and in a few seconds. You can then view the video files in almost any player and sort through rubbish on the discs and use File Explorer to copy over what you want.

I cannot do that with MakeMKV, DVDFab or any of the 15 Decrypters listed at VideoHelp.

Hi Guys, i've purchased Xreveal Pro. When browsing through the settings, I noticed that the location of keydb.cfg is empty. Does the Pro version make no use of this file?

Usually it defaults to C:\ProgramData\aacs but you should point it to wherever you downloaded your KEYDB.cfg file to. For example, if you use FindVUK to synchronize it, which is highly recommended, it'll put it in %appdata%\aacs which is typically your roaming directory in your user profile.

Thank's for your reply, I will download the file. I was not sure because the how to for the Pro version says something like "install it and use it".

Does Xreveal play nicely when installed alongside AnyDVD? Just want to check before I attempt it.

Don't run them at the same time, but sure.
