2. Are you using the version of FRIM that is included with BD-RB, or have you "upgraded"? Last edited by jdobbs; 21st February 2017 at 04:19. |

I'd like to test SSIF output, even if it's for movie-only backup. What hidden options do I need to set for that? Thank you! |

this is a new issue. on the last 2 movies I decoded (inferno and Jason bourne) the sound quit due to cineavia. the bd-rb version I used was 50.23. unfortunately, I don't remember if I've gotten a playable movie using that version. I know that version 50.21 works ok. how do I get around being bitten by cineavia or do I just go back to an older version?

There is software out there that can remove cinavia -- but mechanisms for defeating copyright protection isn't the purpose of this thread, so it's better to discuss it elsewhere. Last edited by jdobbs; 21st February 2017 at 15:39. |

I wasn't talking about LAVF in X264 (although that would be fine to test as well). I was talking about LAV Filters. See the first post of this thread for instructions on how to install. |

1920x2160i output from 1080i source
I did indeed install both LAV filters and FFDSHOW from the start, so still not sure how I ended up with FRIMSource selected. In any case, the good news is in switching frame serving choice to DirectshowSource, post processed videos are now as they should be (though still interlaced; I thought the x264 encoder turns into progressive?; will need to check previous logs with interlaced source to confirm). Thank you jdobbs and gonca for your help in getting this resolved.

Glad it fixed it for you -- but there is obviously a problem in the way I'm using FRIMSource() -- so I still have a bug to fix. |

Thanks, jdobbs for the explanation. One option I always have selected is "use DEINTERLACER", which explains why I thought all interlaced videos post processing are progressive.... except for this latest Hummingbird one. Not a big issue, and I'm not asking for more cycles to be spent on this, especially since you already FRIMSource() to address. Again, thanks very much for your help.

The reason for not de-interlacing 1080i raw video is that you remove 1/2 of the time spatial information. Instead of objects moving at 59.94 times per second, they are now moving at 29.97 times per second. You also compromise some of the vertical resolution as well. The software has to combine two field images into a single frame. If the images are drastically different, it becomes a WAG as to what the new image should look like. The software has gotten better in this regard, but losing 1/2 of time spatial info is a downer. Just my opinion. |

The Oppo BDP-8x and BDP-9x players were free of Cinavia. Beginning with the BDP-10x players and onward Cinavia has been manditorily implemented. |
