Exactly. The version which ships with AVStoDVD is 0.26.
And before someone asks, yes you can use 0.28 with AVStoDVD as long as you have AviSynth 2.60 installed (you have to rename HCenc_028.exe to HCenc.exe). Cheers manolito |

Have you already tried it?
LAV Audio handles Opus audio right out of the box, so the conversion should work without changing any settings. If it does not work for you, please post your AVStoDVD log file... Cheers manolito |

Hi Adam,
thanks for the log file, I think I know what causes your problem... Looks like you forced FFMpegSource as your video and audio source filters. This means that LAVFilters will not get used. The ffms2 version which comes with AVStoDVD is quite old (version 2.17), and I believe that it does not support Opus. You should try to specify A2DSource (or DirectShowSource) for video and audio and see what happens. If you want to stick with FFMpegSource you should manually replace the old version with a newer one (the necessary files reside in the "AVStoDVD\Lib" folder). Cheers manolito |

Hi Manolito,
Once again, you are right on the money. I selected A2DSource for Avisynth preferences both video and audio. I ran the project with no other changes, and it finished with an excellent ISO file. I still have a couple of questions: 1. Can I leave the preferences at A2DSource, or should I return them to FFMpeg? 2. I found ffms2.dll in the Lib folder but don't know where to update. I would prefer to use LAV throughout if possible. Many thanks for your help. I would be happy to post the log of the successful project if you are interested. Just let me know. adam933 |

1. Yes, you probably should have A2DSource specified as your default source filter (explanation follows...). This is the AVStoDVD default setting.
2. To update FFMPEGSource to the latest version 2.22 you need to overwrite ffms2.dll in the A2D\Lib folder with the one from this download page: https://github.com/FFMS/ffms2/releases I think that ffms2.lib should also be extracted to the A2D\Lib folder. I could not test this version myself because it won't run on my ancient CPU, though. And you should use the X86 version, even if you are under Win-64bit. Now a little technical stuff about source filters: To be able to decode the source file, AviSynth needs a "source filter". AVISource and WAVSource are built into AviSynth, other common external source filters are MPEG2Source (for VOB and MPEG files), FFMPEGSource, L-SMASH and DirectShowSource. For DirectShowSource you will additionally need a splitter and a decoder package like ffdshow or LAVFilters. All DirectShow based source filters suffer from the inability to seek precisely. FFMpegSource and L-SMASH do seek accurately, but they require that the source is indexed first (costs some time). For AVStoDVD the ability to seek accurately is mostly not important because the source will only be accessed in a linear way (but there are some AviSynth filters which do seek forward and backward). In most cases using DirectShowSource together with LAV Filters will give you good results. The A2DSource setting in AVStoDVD is special. A2DSource is not a source filter, it is a wrapper script which can switch between different source filters. It works like this: For video it tries AVISource first, if this fails it tries DirectShowSource, and if this also returns an error it falls back on FFMPEGSource. It used to be that FFMPEGSource worked when everything else failed, but this is no longer true for the old version 2.17 (does not support Opus and HEVC aka H.265). Hi, I've been trying to use MKV subtitles and it's impossible. The .mkv contains 6 subtitle tracks, and only audio and video are detetcted by AVS2DVD. Using tools > Demux shows all the tracks, I check the subtitle I want to use, it is saved as .pgs and AVS2DVD does not recognize it. I tried MKVExtractGUI2 and it saves the subtitle as .sup. AVS2DVD now recognizes the subtitle track, but the result is the same: NO SUBS IN THE DVD.
Here's the log: Code:

Hi herkow!
Welcome, first of all... :-) Apparently, from the batchmux.ini options, one subs file is fed to BatchMux: Code:
-s1 "C:\Users\herko\Videos\DVD_2_xxx_1.sup" -s1lang es -s1ext 1 Code:
"C:\Users\herko\AppData\Local\Temp\DVD_2_MuxMan.mxp" The log file will be named: C:muxman.log It would be interesting to have a look also at the content of this file... :-) Cheers, SD Last edited by Sir Didymus; 17th October 2015 at 11:00. |

Bug fix versions of my A2D Plugins
Just discovered a nasty bug in my Wavi_Mod and FFMpeg_VBR plugins:
When a source file name contained an exclamation mark, both plugins would crash. The culprit was the delayed variable expansion which has the habit to make exclamation marks in text input disappear. Download the fixed versions here: http://www19.zippyshare.com/v/tJcoZMJY/file.html Cheers manolito |

I'm hoping someone on here can help me.
I have been using AVStoDVD happily for many months. I recently upgraded my my OS hard drive and decided to clear off some older items rather than clone them over to save time. Now the problem, since then AVStoDVD will not work, it keeps failing before the final remux. Please see attached log of a test I have done. I will just add that I am using a video file that encoded to DVD fine before I cleaned down the old hard drive to clone it. If any extra info is required (MediaInfo output etc) please ask. Many thanks for all and any help. Ian I have just tried the same video with ffdshow_rev4532_20140717_clsid & LAVFilters-0.67 (uninstall, reboot, install and reboot between each set of codecs) Still no joy, what am I missing? Hi Ian_J and welcome there.
Sometimes it takes ages to have the attachments approved by Doom9 mods. I suggest to copy and paste the log file content OR to upload the file elsewhere (pastebin, dropbox, zippyshare, etc). Take note that AVStoDVD project log files have .log extension (not .txt) and are located in the DVD output folder. For self troubleshooting have a look at Help/FAQ/Video/Q3.1 Bye |

Hello MrC,
Many thanks for your reply. The files I posted are the log files I changed the extensions as the forum would not allow me to post .log files. I've tried using LAVFilters-0.67-Installer but I keep getting a crash similar to the following so really wan to go back to using ffdshow as that worked fine before my tinkering.

Apparently, HC Encoder refused to complete its job, or aborted just after starting...
Maybe you may want to double check that avisynth is properly installed on your system? << Process halted during Title 1 VIDEO encoding operations. Error Message: 'Warning! Title 1 output Video duration (00:00:00) is shorter than expected duration (01:50:20).' >> Cheers, SD |

Hi SD,
I've uninstalled & installed everything that AVStoDVD requires: avisynth, ffdshow & LAVFilters. Used the stand alone versions of avisynth & LAVFilters, tried the versions that install alongside AVStoDVD. Overwritten the HCenc 0.26 that installs in AVStoDVD with 0.27 & 0.28, all give the same result. The furthest I have got is with both ffdshow & LAVFilters installed (I know I shouldn't and I didn't used to have that setup when it worked) and then mix and match filters to deal with the audio and video. Nope still won't work. The one thing I have notice when looking at my DirectShow Filters with ffdshow installed is that there is no AC3 filter enabled even though I have it selected. Is there a tool that can clean up all of my filters? Or that can clean up everything ready for a fresh install of ffdshow? I have tried K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool but still my ffdshow filter didn't show AC3 even though I has it selected. Last edited by Ian_J; 17th November 2015 at 09:23. Reason: Additional Info |

Ok. Let see...
First of all, we need the temporary files available for the subsequent analysis, so please enable in the GUI of AVStoDVD the related checkboxes in order to revert the current setting of your configuration: << Delete Temp Assets Files: Yes Delete Temp Working Files: Yes >> Then, relaunch AVStoDVD with the new configuration; you shoud fall again in the same issue, but now the temporary files and assets should be available, so proceed by opening this file [just drag'n drop or open it into whatever media player in your PC]: << C:\Users\Ian_J\AppData\Local\Temp\DVD_Test DVD_1.avs >> I guess some error message will be shown instead of your movie... Right? Last edited by Sir Didymus; 17th November 2015 at 13:26. |

I've done as you requested and disabled Delete Temp Assets and set another encode going.
I have gone back to using ffdshow as that is what worked before but I kept getting HCenc crashing so have overwritten the 0.26 with 0.27 PS can anyone tell me how long I have to keep answering the random questions for? Well before I found the right answer to the random question HCenc crashed. I have checked the MPG video and it was fine up to the point HCenc crashed. |

Every time now HCenc is getting to 100% it crashes.
I can close it down and AVSoDVD continues to work on the files, extracting audio and subtitles etc but the remux fails. Is there a specific version of HCenc I should be using with AVStoDVD. |
