Considering that the first post in this thread was last updated on
«15th September 2011» ,
and considering that the goal of the most recent posts is bash CoreAVC ,
I think it's time to close this thread alright.

IF and when BetaBoy returns to these forums, 'twill be easy for him to start a brand-new topic.

I don't think we should close this thread. Instead I suggest that everybody will stick to the topic again!

That is: Any posts that add new information about the status of CoreAVC or posts that add information on how to workaround the known issues are still welcome.

But any "off topic" posts , i.e. posts that are just bashing/speculation or that repeat the same known problem for the 100-th time, will just be removed...

A small bug report for Haali Splitter.
Some of the new .MOV files can't be split correctly (Haali Splitter doesn't detect the video stream).
A sample file is hangover3-tlr1b_h1080p.mov , the Trailer Posted: 04/12/13 from here [ http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/w...ngoverpartiii/ ]

A possible lead: when muxing the .MOV into a .MKV using MKVToolnix, the following warning is reported (the mux is successful though):
Quote:
Warning: Quicktime/MP4 reader: Track ID 0 has more than one FourCC. Only using the first one (avc1) and not this one (avc1).

Another issue with Haali Splitter, if it ever gets updated:
It doesn't detect tx3g subtitle streams in MP4 container, at all.

Another Haali Splitter issue:
It's unable to detect SOWT and TWOS audio streams at all (usually in .MOV / quicktime container).

BetaBoy, please give us an update, anything.
Is CoreAVC dead and buried?
Is it still worth reporting Haali issues?

What's going on man...

Unable to connect.

Last version is v3.0.1, not 3.1.0.1 ! And it was released 20 months ago!

Looks like they abandoned the support including the product.

Right now I want h.265 (aka HEVC), is much better (specially future proof) than h.264.

I contacted Haali's author directly, he was kind enough to link me to a build fixing 'TWOS' audio stream splitting.
He gave me permission to share it, it can be downloaded here.

Just as a note, this seems to be the version that I posted here after I tested it, back in April . Just wasn't sure if he wanted the test url to be public, so I chose to re-host it when sharing it.

And yes, if you want any fixes to be done into the Haali splitter, I recommend you contact him personally instead of any threads here or anywhere else . He used to be on IRC, but he finally dropped all signs of life there around spring of 2012, and around January 2013 he then finally had his bouncer/IRC proxy die off.

be happy! That new version killed everything over here. After installing it I can't play any MKV anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled CoreAVC and everything is working again.

strange 'interlace'

Hello, i have strange problem with coreavc (see attached screenshot). i have reinstalled my netbook and this is what i'm getting now. i'm sure it was ok before.
It looks like there is trouble with filtering. i tried to play with coreavc settings, but it did not help. picture is ok when I play same video file with GOM internal player. But I cannot use that internal player for HD because my netbook has not that good cpu (atom).
Do you have any idea what is wrong and how can I fix this?

Regards,
L.

The problem appears to be that fields are separated (e.g. using a bob algorithm), which reduces the vertical resolution and introduces edge aliasing. Software deinterlacers may decide whether interpolation is useful, based on the difference of the fields, what hardware based deinterlacers may not do. A single screenshot of a still scene does not reveal if deinterlacing is at all required in motion scenes. An "interlaced" (field oriented) encoding is not the only criterion, often the encoding is set up to "interlaced" mode only for technical reasons, not because the video content progresses fieldwise; for such video content, it may be useful to force no deinterlacing.

Hi, i just found option in Gom player - deinterlace, that is set on Automatic by default. Everything looks good after I disabled this option.

Sorry for misleading question.

L.

Not officially, we determined it was dead quite some time back though.
