Sorry, I'm very late...

However

1)green squares are "artifacts" when starting to play movie, they are not IN the movie.. something like buggy video driver or something else...

2) progress % stays always to 0% ...

3) selecting language looking for their codes in the dos window is possibile, but not "easy".. however, this can be done :-)

4) a strange thing that has happened me is that I selected 1500MB and had a output file of 860mb..

5) Is it possible to select more than one audio track?

another nice thing would be visual crop, like hdc.
But I can imagine this is "the little brother", it cannot have ALL features :-)

keep up the good work

Thanks for the automen

buzzqw's AutoMen encoder is so far the best x264 encoder that my laptop can use. it uses less resources compared to handbrake.

i just encountered a audio problem. i used the x264 format, 2 pass with my desired file size and ar. it resulted with no audio but when i used the 1 pass setting it had an audio.

now the question is, why is this happening?

thanks.

Not Encoding Entire Movie

I ripped a dvd disc to my hard drive to one single VOB file for conversion to XviD format.

AutoMen detected the movie at 90+ minutes, but when the encode finished, the resulting XviD file was only 16 min. in length.

Anyone else experiencing this? I am using the latest beta (downloaded and installed today).

It's just one single vob file. I had it not split them during the ripping phase.

Also, maybe something is wrong on my end? Because every single GUI I've tried from the forums is failing me. AutoMKV only encoded a few min. like AutoMen did. ASXGui failed at 50%, etc etc. I'm only on an XP SP3 install with not much software installed besides Office and freeware video programs. I'm at a loss.

As for posting a batch file, I'm trying to re-create the encode issue, but now AutoMen won't even encode. When I hit "encode" the screen flashes and nothing happens. Going to reboot and try again.

Okay. I did what you suggested. This time it encoded but only 40+ minutes worth. I used the default 1 pass XviD Balanced preset. I'm at a loss here.

Here's that batch log you requested:

Code:
"C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Desktop\AutoMen6_beta\mencoder.exe" -demuxer lavf -vf harddup,scale=624:352,hqdn3d=1:1:1 -sid 1001 -o "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\automen_VTS_02_1.avi" -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=4316:max_bframes=2:bquant_ratio=162:bquant_offset=100:vhq=2:me_quality=6:chroma_me:chroma_opt:hq_ac:trellis:lumi_mask:autoaspect:bvhq=1 -aid 1 -af volnorm=1 -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -channels 2 -lavdopts threads=3 -lavcopts threads=3 "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_1.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_2.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_3.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_4.VOB" 2>"C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Desktop\AutoMen6_beta\automen.log"

just some information:

can you confirm that there are only 4 vobs ?
"D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_1.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_2.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_3.VOB" "D:\ONE_WEEK\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_4.VOB"

and all there vobs are correct and accessible ?

could you post the "C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Desktop\AutoMen6_beta\automen.log" ?

thanks!

Confirmed there are only 4 vobs that ReJig created from the remux. All 4 vobs are also playable and the 4 time lengths of the vobs combined equals the correct total movie length.

The AutoMen log was too large to fit in a post here so I uploaded it to PasteBin. Hope that'll suffice.

The log is here: http://pastebin.com/m5009c369

try builing only 1 file

also.. there are too much duplicate frames
maybe is to apply decimate ? (film pattern)

AutoMen doesn't do auto-IVTC?

I had an original single VOB file that DVD Decrypter outputted.

I just tested my original single VOB rip using the latest AutoGK and it encoded the entire movie. However, it was only 380mb in size when I specified 800mb.

I'm going to go the manual route with an AviSynth script, and manual 2-pass setup in VDub and see what happens...

Contradiction: bitrate vs. final size

When I open AutoMen v6.63 to (re-) encode a movie then on the "Summary" tab there are (among others) two values (resp. entry fields):

- Video bitrate
and
- ....keep in .... MB

So the user can enter both values at the same time.

From my point of view this is nonsense:
The user can either determine the bitrate. Then the final size is open or the user can fix the desired final size then it is up to the encoder to chose the appropriate bitrate.

So how can AutoMen handle both key values at the same time?

Or in other words: If the user enters values in both entry fields: Which one has priority?

Video Bitrate has always priority

also .. when you edit the final size, the bitrate is re-computed, WHILE if you edit manually the bitrate the final size will not change

in this way users can simply specify the final size.. and power users can specify bitrate
