Mr. C,
I've tried the disc I burned in two different standalone DVD players and neither had sound (one showed, when you clicked on the "audio" button, that the audio was 5.1). There is also no sound when I try to play the burned disc on my computer. The .mkv file plays fine with sound on my computer and when plug it (i.e. the hard drive it is on) into the USB port on my Blu Ray Player. Any further suggestions as to why the sound is not working? Thanks, Movieman99 |

I have noticed these issues during Audio re-encoding to AC3, sometimes it doesnt work leading to no sound even if the process completed successfully. The resampled AC3 file doesnt work. @ MrC, this is another opportunity for adding a feature for such Audio encoding issues. - For DTS Audio, add DTS Option under Audio, DTS Audio to be copied directly to Authoring stage - no reencoding done. - For AC3 Audio also, if you deselect the default selection of "Keep DVD complaint Audio" , it just copies the AC3 Audio from the source to the DVD Authoring Stage. Infact this can be done for any Audio source, if you deselect the "Keep DVD complaint Audio" under Audio options. |

@jandor
thanks for testing. Please keep me update if you find any issues with AviSynth 2.6.0 MT @movieman99 what directshow decoded are you using for DTS audio? ffdshow? If you have installed Win7 be sure you are using Window 7 Preferred Filter Tweaker. As last option, try to switch from Wavi+Aften to FFmpeg as AC3 encoder. BTW, where did you get that mkv file? @techreactor first question: yes it does. About DTS track retaining: AVStoDVD already retains DTS tracks that have the features to be 'DVD compliant'. One of them is the resolution, which should be lower or equal than 20 bit. movieman99's DTS track is 24 bit. See Help/How to use it/Preferences/Audio for more details. @Big Vern There's no best settings configuration. It depends on input source and, even more, on your personal eyes. Run some trials and make your own decision. AVStoDVD defaults are designed to be quite good for most situations. Bye |

Many (I would say all) 24bit DTS tracks are refused by muxman. Sometimes it refuses 20bit tracks as well... hence the DTS compliance is not 100% solved. Bye |

@Techreactor...hi, I'm a bit of a newbie at this, so how do I pick up my encoded Video and the extracted DTS Audio and mux it using either muxman or any Authoring tool?
FYI...I'm using AVStoDVD version 2.4.2. @ Mr. C...to answer your questions (your questions in red): What directshow decoded are you using for DTS audio? ffdshow? I'm not sure...ffdshow (I think) is part of or included in your program, but I have not changed any settings. If you have installed Win7 be sure you are using Window 7 Preferred Filter Tweaker. I am using Windows 7...I downloaded the Win 7 Preferred Tweaker but again (being a newbie), I'm not sure what settings to use or how to use it As last option, try to switch from Wavi+Aften to FFmpeg as AC3 encoder. I did in my third attempt...my settings in the Audio preferences tab were: DVD Audio = AC3 DVD Bitrate = 192 kps Keep AC3/DTS... = checked AC3 Audio Encoder = FFmpeg Force FFmpeg = checked Norm audio = unchecked Auto adjust... = checked When I import the .mkv file to the program, the main window shows the .mkv file detail as: AVC - 9153 kbps, 1920x1080 DAR 1.778 -23.976 (CFR) progressive DTS - 1536 kbps 6 ch 48000 Hz 24 bit 1:45 (0ms delay) internal BTW, where did you get that mkv file? Got the file from a friend...not sure where he got it. Also...I tried playing the source .mkv file again directly on my computer. Using VLC Media Player (what I normally use as my default, and what I used last time I tested it), the file worked perfectly. When I retested and used Windows Media Player to play the file, only the video played...no sound. Does this help? What else do I need to do to make this work? Thanks, Movieman99 |

Oddity with .ssa subtitles...
When using .ssa subtitle files as source subtitle file, any words following a COMMA (in the text) are omitted.
The good news is that .srt subtitle files work just fine... so I'm having to convert any .ssa files to .srt files, prior to burning DVDs... Take care! |

Thank you for a WONDERFUL DVD Authoring tool! I use it daily, to build DVDs for my Thai English students; a new movie, every week!
Question: is there SOME way to preset the "Sub-Picture Color Lookup Table" ?? Right now, after creating a DVD image with AVStoDVD (using a idx/sub subtitle file), Colors 1 and 3 are set to RED and BLUE, resulting in unreadable subtitles: http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...3h05m28s75.jpg I know now, that I can go back, after the fact, with PgcEdit, and set the red (Character) to be a near-white, and set the blue (outline) to be black, but it would be so nice to not have to fix the output files, and have to make the .iso file afterwards.... Here's the log file from a short test I ran, to create the problem video subtitles: Thanks again for this KILLER AP!!! Quote:

@Pawpcorn
the subtitles color setup in Muxman (free edition) has been always quite tricky. See here for more info about. Because of that AVStoDVD tries to overwrite the original subtitles color settings, using the _palette.txt file (stored in temporary files folder). The foreground color is defined in 'Preferences'/'AuthoringBurning' page. Bye |

Thank you, Mr.C, for your speedy reply!
I'm researching what you gave me... I DO see the nice "_palette.txt" file, with the proper contents of: Quote:

http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/.../PGCEditor.png You can see color 0 is set to Blue, and color 1 is set to Red, thus red characters with a blue outline. I haven't started researching your link about MuxMan yet... but I wanted to thank you, and give you this additional feedback, in case it is helpful to you, if you have the opportunity to look into this problem. I'd be happy to send you (not sure how!) the short test video and the idx/sub sub files used for this latest test. Thanks again, Pawpcorn P.S. The "foreground color is defined in 'Preferences'/'AuthoringBurning' page" that you mentioned, appears to be used for .srt subtitles, and is not in play, when using .idx/.sub VOB subtitles. @Pawpcorn
have a look to the link I have posted. It contains useful hints to learn when dealing with idx to sup conversion (using SubtitlesCreator) and authoring with Muxman. If you want you can send me (avstodvd@gmail.com) the idx/sub files so that we can both run same tests. Bye |

Is it possible that the Output size estimation isn't working properly? It's quite far off. A piece of the log:
Code:
CHECK DVD SIZE DVD Folder (actual) Size: 4443,8 MB vs Estimated Size: 4848 MB -> 8,3% undersize vs Assets Size: 4292 MB -> OK Tooltip says: DVD Menu/Titles/Extra size: 0/4566/282 MB. Tried it with v2.4.2 and with v2.5.0Alpha, both have the same problem. Log attached. |
