If you want a good codec pack then you better use K-Lite instead. That gives you more control over what gets installed.

I would suggest that you ignore the above comment by the K-Lite author, clsid.
As if he has any real knowledge of what his #1 competitor is capable of.

Install the Shark's codecs and see for yourself how well they work.

I would suggest to stop using all codec packs around.
Life is better without a deeply screwed system.

Shark007 includes the powerdvd decoders, which is nice.

Oh this is so comical.

We have two guys (well, actually just shark) arguing with each other about who's pack is better, just like two immature kids. Then we have a guy with just two posts, who made the account on the 3rd of this month, who just has to post a comment that doesn't contribute to the discussion with anything - why does it give me a feeling it's a "sockpuppet", or that it's the same person as the shark and the original poster?

Last.. dbcooper, how does including "pirated" or hacked codecs, or simply bundling libraries without the consent of the original authors make a pack better? It's just wrong.

My 2 cents ... people should stay away from codec packs. Install what you need, when you need. If you use a player like Media Player Classic Home Cinema you'll have the majority of video formats supported by default without any need for separate codecs.

I didn't mean to stir up this. Haven't been here for quite sometimes and not aware that the culture of this forum had been changed. May be I should ask a more general question.

This codec thing is always a headache to me. I can see some codec available in one software, but not always the same list as in Windows device manager. How did you manage codec in your system? Is it possible to have a single setting where add/change/delete codec can be effected on all software?
