Encode different scenes at different crf

Hi,

Is it possible to encode different scenes, encode them at different crf and append the scenes after encoding to 1 file? If so, do I need to cut the video file in different segments first before encoding or can I use AvsPmod to make a script?

Use the zones parameter.

Yes, using "--stitchable" in the x264 command line is a good idea if you want to append video.

Rather than mess around with zones, I create multiple copies of a script and add Trim() to the end of each so each copy encodes a specific section. They can be encoded with different CRF values and appended later with MKVMergeGUI. That way, if I happen to (for example) break a script into six sections and after encoding each section I want to try a different CRF value for one of them, I can encode it individually again.

I start each section at the beginning of a scene change to make it harder to confuse myself.
