Well - different project, different author. IIRC, it is closer related to MPC-BE than MPC-HC.

it could be bundled with for example: install: madvr & mpc video renderer.
& what about haali video renderer? is it worth staying with mpc-hc?

You mean, the installer retrieving (and registering) the latest releases from madshi's webspace or from Aleksoid1978's github releases on demand?

Haali is pretty obsolete today. The splitter got superseded by LAV Filters (only the AviSynth source filter may be interesting for an edge case), and I don't remember which advantage the renderer may have had once...

Yes & Haali is dead & should be removed, & what about those old Logitech keyboards with lcds?
One more a bit off-topic question: How is such a thing possible that my GPU doesn't support DX12, but when I set my emulator's backend renderer to DX12, it runs it without any problem?
Is it possible that if in future devs developed a DX12 video renderer, my DX11 GPU can support it?

Maybe ask k-lite to distribute them together. It's a different project but as it's open-source on github it wouldn't be that hard to build it along-side, I guess.

First LAV Filters wasn't bundled with MPC-HC, but now it is. I think at least MPC Video Renderer is a must-have.

Haali VR gives a better picture than System Default, VMR-9w, Old VR and Overlay Mixer Renderer. Also Haali VR is better at reducing frame size than VMR-9r and EVR-CP.

But most users don't use it & last update of Haali is 7 years ago!

Haali VR hasn't messed up, and the rest of the video renderers (which I have listed) have not improved. Only the VMR-9r and EVR-CP were getting changes, but this did not solve the problem with frame reduction.

It is wrong to remove support by the date of the last update.

it still works and as long as no work is needed to keep it working then there is no need to remove it.

a "discontinued/superseeded" could be added but that again is wasted dev time.

There is no reason to remove support for any of the renderers. Haali VR is a good choice for old and low powered systems.

@v0lt
Are there any plans to add support to MPC VR for software scaling? That would be useful for situations where DXVA processing and Shader support are unavailable.

DirectX has the ability to use software rendering. So the DX12 functionality is being emulated on your system. DX12 has no benefits for video rendering.

MPC VR has no problem with frame reduction. EVR-CP (in MPC-BE) also does not have this problem.

Download the Divers_-_Illustrated_London_News_Feb_6_1873-2.PNG picture (2939×3666) from Wikipedia and open it in windowed mode using the video renderers you are interested in.

Not planned.

There is the API, and then what MS calls "feature level". You GPU driver probably supports the DirectX 12 API, but at the Direct3D feature level "11_something".
You can check by running 'dxdiag'

Why LAV Filters that is based on FFmpeg doesn't support it? Starting iOS 11 the default image format is HEIF & looks like JPEG is dead!

Heif

Wikipedia: As of May 2020, no browser supports HEIC natively

If no browser supports it, I'm not sure a media player needs to. Windows 10 recently got support for the format.

https://github.com/nokiatech/heif may be useful in the future.
