2160p23, 2160p24, 2160p50, 2160p59, 2160p60 is enough and better, because 25 fps content can be interlaced and by using 25 Hz mode you drop the advantage of motion resolution of 50 Hz of 25fps interlaced content, same for 29/30 and 59/60.

And you must decide between the two things:
A) You use refresh rate change with 2160p23, 2160p24, 2160p50, 2160p59, 2160p60
OR
B) You enable smooth motion of madvr and stick with 60 Hz

Try both and stay what you like best, and of course diable all smooth motion interpolation crap of your TV, regardless of the manufacturer.

Thanx for your reply and help. I'll try using those to see if it makes a difference. Do i need to include other resolutions or do they get included automatically?

You should only use 3840x2160, because then you let madVR do the scaling and you can take whatever scaling method you like and what your GPU can handle. Other refresh rates are not needed.

By the way, one of my TVs is also a Q9FN with thank god still 1270, do not upgrade your firmware to 1290, disable automatic firmware update now, there is an issue, I contacted Samsung already and they made screensots via Remote control and the Developers get the info. A smaller Samsung of me has already the issue, because it made an autoupdate to 1290 and I recognized the issue. In the meantime just stay with the firmware you have and wait for a fix.

It only affects pc mode, which you must select of Samsung TVs to get 4:4:4/RGB color shown on the screen, 60 Hz is fine, but when using for example 50 Hz mode then the picture is cut off around (Overscan) and you can not change it in PC mode anymore.
To see the issue, you must set the TV to pc mode first then turn it off and after restart the error uccurs, I called Samsung and talked to them about 45 minutes with a very qualified person and I am pretty sure it will get fixed soon. I couldn't believe not a single one reported that to them, so it took quite long. But really nice that they can go on remote to your TV when there is an issue and take screenshots with OSD info of the TV and so on.

Buddy your the exact person i need for more info. Im loving the tv and using pc only for gaming and movies/tv shows just trying to get the most out of it. So i use PC mode with rgb full 8bit to get full chroma or 4:4:4. also hdmi level normal or low with one of these settings. With PC mode im losing settings (greyed out) and can only select dynamic or standard. for e.g i like to up the colour a little for more vibrance i'm not able to get it calibrated professionally

I think I don't understand what exactly you want to accomplish, but the "make the image better" crap like motion stuff is already mostly off and you can adjust in advanced options in picture menu some stuff if needed for further stuff. I must admit I don't know how the english menu entries in called, since I am in Germany.

I just hope that users get that there is not a ultimate TV, just look at LG OLEDs and also some SONY OLEDS, they have bad 24p stutter compared to other TVs:

you were right about the overscan thing losing all side of the image. hope theres a fix soon. another question does full chroma matter when watching movies or tv shows. or is mainly for web browsing using apps?

I'm currently running a Geforce GTX 1050 w/ 2gb of GDDR5 on my HTPC. Plays everything just fine (incl. NGU resize and 4K HDR).

I have an opportunity to upgrade it dirt cheap to a GTX 1650 w/ 4 gb of GDDR5. Would that be an upgrade (as it relates to madvr)? Is that card more powerful than the 1050?

Thanks

the 1650 is about 50% faster then an 1050 and it is generally a bad card for the money a 1650 S is more then 2x faster then a 1050.

Thanks. No idea how I overlooked that, especially considering the 1650 Super is only $10 more than the non-super.

Order placed.

Thanks!

the existent of the 1650 is indeed very questionable.
the availability of the 1650 S is still bad it may even get cheaper.

waiting a month or more for 10-20 euros is not worth it in my eyes.

edit: can you do some basic performance test with the card when you get it some people ask about the madVR performance of this card and only someone owning it should show how good it is.

Samsung's do a really nice job with judder reduction and smooth motion...
I wouldn't waste the GPU/CPU cycles on MadVR for this... Instead, improve image quality.
But like you said, it's a personal choice.

About 99% of all available videos are 4:2:0, so not a real issue for average user, but if you use madVR for chroma upsampling you have to use pc mode for 4:4:4, so you can actually see the upscaling, otherwise the TV will interpret the signal as 4:2:0 and the upscaling "is for the ass"

And if you use the TV as computer monitor you also want 4:4:4 (RGB is equivalent because it is always full chroma reolution) to have sharp picture.
More info about 4:4:4 full color resolution:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/chroma-subsampling
https://www.rtings.com/images/test-m...chroma-444.png

http://madshi.net/madVR/ChromaRes.png

Here you must see the blue and red pixels, only around it is magenta
Note: Of course all pictures must be scaled 1:1 on the screen
I made a zoomed in screenshot, so for users who are new to this can see the actual difference:

You are right, but I can not recommend Samsungs smooth motion in madVR thread

Sorry if I’m asking too many questions but you’re helping a lot. Problem now is I choose pc mode and it gives me the two option dynamic and standard with other options greyed out on the tv so I know I’m in pc mode. But as soon as the file starts to play on madvr I’m back to normal mode being able to select movie standard vivid on tv telling me I’m not in pc mode anymore. This happens full screen and windowed playback.

Also the chroma test am I looking for blue and purple outside the numbers and solid colours inside. Or blue purple inside 422 or inside 444 or inside both. I’m doing the test in full screen 1.1 scaling. Also does this test matter in hdr

Also any settings to concentrate my GPUs power to eliminate colour banding and black crush

Thanks so much btw for help given
