@Tpain145
if you send UHD then you avoid the scaler in the TV.
personal advise don't get a vizio.

Thanks. It's such a shame that vizio has never fix this issue with their tv's. They offer great bang for your buck.

I'm on 1920x1080, thanks though. Anyone else on this resolution with an Nvidia card on newer drivers that have some settings I can try?
I'll keep trying the various options that madVR offers.

No luck unfortunately with both madVR and CRU. I noted some of the recommended settings madVR gave me (various back porch changes to the main 23Hz mode) which I used CRU to try a few of but I still get one frame repeat every 12 mins or so regardless of what I change. This custom 23hz mode is showing in the detailed settings window and I reboot afterwards so I expect that's all I need to do to get this working, but it doesn't appear to be changing anything. Anyone with some serious experience with CRU/Nvidia able to give a hand, maybe in private? Either I get this working or it's back to 385.28 and avoid Windows 1903 as a result.

I wish you hadn't mentioned anything about the 720 and sd on a vizio. I went in to test those and they don't look as pronounced as 1080 or 4k, but now I'm getting stuttering again on 4k after doing it. don't do this to me!!!!!

Is there anyone who took a blu-ray player named oppo203 cracked version 60? My question is which has better video quality between MadVR NGU sharp(high) exclusive mode and oppo203?
I'm gonna buy an oppo203 cracked version 60 if the oppo203 makes me see better video quality than MadVR NGU sharp(high) exclusive mode does.
Thanks in advance for your reply if you would like to reply to my question.

End of the day it's your judgment to make what you prefer the look of, from a technical standpoint no other video processing equipment AFAIA offers the same processing capabilities.

So that means it's better than oppo203 to use madvr in order to get better video quality? By the way, what does the AFAIA mean?

There isn't any DVD/Blu-ray player on the market that can compare with what madVR does, it's just a question of what you feel is good enough.

Cpu for the best image quality for 1080p to 2160p upscale

Hello everyone,

I currently have an i5 4670k and a 1080 ti.

I want to get the best possible image quality with MPC-HC + Madvr both for native 2160p videos and also for 1080p to 2160p upscale. I will watch them on a quite large 4k Samsung TV. Which CPU would You recommend for this purpose ?

Budget is not an issue, but I don't want to throw away my hard earned money either. Do I really need an i7 8700 ? Or can I get the same best results also with an i7 7700 ?

I have no experience with overclocking, so I prefer a non-K intel cpu.

Last but not the least, please let me know if my gpu 1080 ti is not enough for the same purpose.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

You honestly don't need to change anything to get the "best" image quality. A 1080Ti offers plenty of performance for your required task. To make the most of it you will need profiles, start with Asmodians Max Quality settings profile found at the bottom of this post here and edit to suit the slightly lower performance of the 1080Ti.

Don't buy anything.

Your i5 is fine and CPU is (mostly) irrelevant for HTPC-related video decoding/processing as most of the work is done by the GPU. I use a cheap i3 6100k in my HTPC (which is 1/3 less powerful than your current CPU) with a GTX 1070 and everything runs smoothly.

Your current setup is more than enough to achieve great PQ.

Hey guys, I'm running into an issue attempting to output 10-bit from MadVR, despite having native display bitdepth set to 10-bit or higher. As you can see in the screenshot below, I have my nvidia driver set to 12-bit as well. I'm aware that setting everything to 8-bit w/ dithering might be the optimal choice, but I decided to do some experimenting. Is there some way I can determine why MadVR is outputting at 8-bit, and not 10-bit as I have it set? Thanks!

Have you tried rebooting Windows ?

I know it seems stupid but i run into this issue quite often (madvr unable to switch to "D3D11 exclusive (10 bits)" and sticking to "D3D11 fullscreen windowed (8 bits)") even with FSE enabled, and a reboot always fixes it...

Hijacking the topic to ask...

Why would that be ?

What's your OS? Win8 only supports FSE, FSW only available in Win10.

Fullscreen windowed is not working for me in Windows10 latest update.

ONLY fullscreen exclusive gives me HDR logo on my LGOLED TV.
