Last version (1.10) doesn't open this sup file (from Open Season European blu-ray). It's the Greek subtitles.

Also, i would like to ask for the version number to be displayed somewhere in the program, so we can know which version we have.

Thanks for the update Taaktal.

This subtitle, from Casablanca HD-DVD
http://www.sendspace.com/file/4xi03v

Latest version does not recognize the 2nd line of two line subs. The issue starts within the first 1-10 subs. It also aborts when moving forward before around sub 20.

Taktaal, I don't know if this is something you can do, or would consider doing, but here is an idea for enhancement:

Offer dvd compatible sub/idx output. These can already be displayed with HD movies on a HTPC, and of the two popular hardware media players that support HD playback, Tvix M-6500, and Network Media Tank, the Tvix already supports sub/idx, and the NMT developers have said support is coming with a firmware update.

While all of these devices already support SRT subs, the sub/idx format does not require OCR and can display any type of character. For compatibility, my understanding is the sub/idx format requires DVD resolution for the subs, which doesn't look great on a HD screen, but that is a sacrifice many would gladly accept in exchange for a more automatic and accurate process. At least it would be nice to have the option.

I'm sure such a feature would be appreciated by a large number of people. It is something that is very difficult to impossible to do right now, especially for Blu-ray sups.

Hi there, i am having serious problems trying the new suprip version to get to do the job done

Issues varies from not recognizing the very first (and last) letters on many lines and most of all the app is just crashing after few lines.

I've just reinstalled my machine so i got a very very polished installation of Win XP if that helps.

please help

regards
Anac

That sounds interesting and pretty simple to do, I'll look for some documentation on the sub/idx format.

I also can't get through the Casablanca sup I uploaded earlier. It bombs out, after maybe 30 OCR's (guessing at the number) with settings 11/3/25.

Taaktal, that is great news that you plan to tackle sub/idx. You'll be blazing a new trail.

Yes, i confirm that first and last character is missing in the unique sup file that suprip was able to open.

I know the reason for the missing characters, that's easy to fix.
But the crashes are confusing me. What error message do you get with the crash? You should receive a stack dump in a gray or white window with some lines of text.

Here you go Taktaal: (translated that would be an "index out of bound")

Code:
System.Exception: Indice oltre i limiti della matrice.

   in SupRip.SubtitleImage.ExtractLetter(Rectangle rect, Double angle, BackgroundRectangle lastSpace, BackgroundRectangle nextSpace)
   in SupRip.SubtitleImage.FindLetters()
   in SupRip.SubtitleImage.CreateSubtitleArray()
   in SupRip.SubtitleImage..ctor(Bitmap source)
   in SupRip.SubtitleFile.GetSubtitleImage(Int32 n)
   in SupRip.MainForm.LoadSubtitleImage(Int32 number)
   in SupRip.MainForm.LoadSubtitleImage(Int32 number)
   in SupRip.MainForm.MoveToImage(Int32 num)
   in SupRip.MainForm.nextButton_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
   in System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)
   in System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e)
   in System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent)
   in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks)
   in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
   in System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m)

   in System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
Looks the same.

This is the sup that produced the error above (it loads but after a few subtitles it pops up).

I have also uploaded another sup (that didn't even load) a few posts before. Have you look at it?

There was another stupid n+1 bug, I fixed that for a new version 1.12. The two subtitles right above work now.

For me that opens in 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12 correctly. The older versions sometimes don't find all letters but it never crashes. Does it still crash for you with 1.12?

Version 1.12 handles my Casablanca font without crashing. And it recognizes everything. Good work.
