You can even use NGU Sharp High with a 1060 6GB with d3d11native.

Freeze PC
I have a problems with my installation. I use madVr with MPC-BE. The problem is that with every movie I watch after about an hour and a half or a little more the PC freezes with the still image and the audio in continuous loop. The video card is a Radeon RX580 and the madVR values are medium to high. The GPU works constantly between 75 and 95% with a temp ranging from 70 to 85/90 degrees. Are this values too high? What are acceptable values? Or maybe the problem can be somewhere else?
Thanks. |

I'm at 83 degrees when watching movies, but my graphics card has passive cooling.

I don't like going over 80°C but 85 should be OK. Crashing at 90 or higher seems very likely to be the issue.

One more thing about heat. M2 form factor SSD's can generate a LOT of heat. I had one a couple of years ago, and could not get the thing to run cool despite adding fans and heatsinks. Got rid of it and replaced it with a Samsung 970 EVO, and all related temp issues went away. |

experienced similar freezes with audio looping and random BSODs after 15-45min of GPU assisted playback back with my AMD based Ryzen 3600 + Radeon RX570 system for few months back in April-June. For me the issue was caused by Windows 10's Balanced Power profile, a long shot for sure but worth the try, if all else fails. As a hindsight the issue might have been resolved just by changing the Window's Power Profile from Balanced to High Performance. Wrote about the issue in lenght earlier in here, check out the following post, https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.p...13#post1914813 Hope this helps! Last edited by sam0t; 15th June 2020 at 12:48. |

I would be a bit worried if I encountered this to be honest, because it means the CPU isn't fully stable at the intermediate performance states (voltage-frequency combinations) or when transitioning between them.

Ryzen CPU's really need to use the Ryzen Power Plans... Windows still doesn't play nice with them and it's own Power Plans... It's an easy fix, just update to the latest AMD Chipset Drivers and the Ryzen Power Plans will be added and available for selecting.

AMD is renaming this bug for nearly a year now it currently this:
Quote:
new window 10 versions have barely any differences between balanced and ryzen balanced. the "need" for a ryzen power plan was mostly thanks to a "bug" where windows treated AMD different from intel which could result in a lost of performance. |

I don't know much about new Win10s but there's big difference on 1607/1809. I use my own power plan (based on balanced but slower/lazier) with R5 2600 without any issues.

Anyone having issues with MadVR's pattern generator triggering HDR? I can play HDR movies fine on MPC BE with MadVR on latest Nvidia drivers but the pattern generator refuses to trigger HDR.
Trying to do a simple greyscale calibration for HDR is proving to be very difficult! |

Yes, it has not been able to trigger HDR for me either. I am not sure when it started but it is awhile now.
