mCable Gaming / Cinema

The cinema is more for streaking and also Bluray.

The Gaming is for pure gaming and also bluray but without the capability of streaming videos.

I ordered one, there is a big different for Consoles gaming and also for PC Gaming on specific resolutions.

So I hope it should improve the Video + MadVR combination

I have OLED LG55C6 LG , but there are things that can be improved . it has some kind of AA CXAA. you can read all in their site on the Tech tab

MadVR is already much better at upscaling than the chip in this cable.

Most definitely. Such solutions are all irrelevant and can be done with much more control in madVR - and for free.
For gaming consoles it might be nice, where you don't get any control over the image. For a PC? Keep it simple, don't add hundred HDMI processors in there.

Well for film, once madVR gets access to deblocking and avisynth filters it will be overall superior in this situation, in upscaling it already has the edge. Keeping my screen in a low res? Nty.
Specific situations it may be applicable but for movies compared to madVR? Nah.

Getting madVR to work with YouTube was an epiphany but deblocking would be useful sometimes.

It also has "dynamic range enhancement" so it messes up the color.

With madVR we want to disable all extra processing, not add blurring (AA), unconfigurable sharpening, and also mess up the color. For console gaming, or even PC gaming with a lower end GPU, it could be useful (though dynamic range enhancement is a deal breaker for me) but for madVR it is entirely a bad thing.

That cable is the complete opposite of a properly calibrated pure 1:1 pixel mapped display pathway.

Is MadVR+LAV able to play Youtube VP9 HDR BT2020 videos? I could only get SDR Rec-709 with these (that I had downloaded for offline playback). If yes, how do you play them?

i don't see a reason it should not work. are you sure you got the correct VP9 10 bit version?

Those VP9 HDR YouTube streams definitely play just fine when you download them first, no clue about getting streaming to work.

I think it works with correct detection with MPC BE. However, it's not stable for high bitrate streaming (mentioned it several times in MPC BE thread, devs don't have a solution).

For us with 4k videos that have HDR, what options do we have to playback real HDR on Windows? I'm reading that HDR with MadVR still uses the "fake HDR" method?

Huh? You can't mean actually watching videos on youtube in a browser, right?

Meaning the TV can detect the HDR from MadVR and adjust?

Yes, full HDR passthrough in win10. The TV detects HDR. Works perfect on nvidia and I think amd is fixed too now. I prefer the output of madvr over my expensive bluray player.
