[HELP] 1 CD (700Mb) miniDVD transcode

Hi everyone, need your skills to "solve" my problem.

I do need to transcode FullHD uncompressed AVI and a separated lossless WAV (24/96) - TOTAL PLAY TIME 32' 37" - into a miniDVD at best possible quality and compatibility-wise.

I'm experimenting with AVS2DVD (HCenc-based) but it support only AC3 encoding for audio (DTS should be better, isn't it ?).

Should I consider CCE in place of HCenc for better low-bitrate quality results ?

Should I switch to SVCD for better compatibility (if so, is possible to mux AC3 in it ?) ?

Any suggestion ?

Thanks in advice !

At a given bitrate on DVD AC3 audio is fine, DTS is not better.
Furthermore DTS is not mandatory for players to be supported
and so shall only be used if for the same language a PCM or AC3 track is present.
And as a last bump: The lowest DTS bitrate on DVD is 768kbps. This eats up your bitrate for video seriously.

On a 700MB CD-R MPEG-2 Video bitrate will be min 1992, average 2664, max 5328 kbps if audio is 192 kbps.
That is not sufficient for anything called like "best"...

CCE can yield good results, HC as well.
At these low bitrates you will have to smooth your footage pre both encoders as much as possible
to save on high frequency DCT coefficients.

SVCD limits your MPEG-2 video bitrate to 2.6 Mbps.
Audio is to be MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2 from 32-384kbps @ 44.1 kHz, channels from 1 to 6.
No AC3 audio.

The chosen playtime of 33 mins makes miniDVD not better than SVCD, both yield video bitrates that are very low.
A miniDVD on CD-R would have a possible quality advantage over SVCD at shorter playtimes.

Why CDR? Aren't DVDRs cheap enough? Even BDR are now affordable ...
