cannot get subtitles using handbrake from vob files

i've been trying to get handbrake to add subtitles to a japanese movie i had to decrypt w/ DVDdecrypter.

so i have the vob files, and i've tried every option in the handbrake subtitle menu to add subtitles but i'm not getting them. there are two "unknown [vobsub]" options and a "foreign audio scan" in my choices. there is no srt file to import.

handbrake 1.2.2
w7 pro
dvddecryptor 3.5.4.0

There will never be an SRT as DVD subtitles don't use text-based subs. To get SRT subs you have to perform an OCR.

Hve you run an OCR using SubRip? Have you tried extracting the VobSubs (IDX/SUB) using VobSub Configure?
