@jmac698
ok, I will put CC support in my ToDo list @rendez2k source title audio track should be DVD compliant (DTS @16bit) and AVStoDVD should have kept it without re-encoding. Instead Aften+Wavi started with 1536 kbps bitrate setting (wrong, not supported by AC3). Have you changed anything in 'Edit Title'/'Audio'? Bye |

I feel it should work! I mean, if you make a suitable (off line) preparation of the m2v assets, by using the SCC tools, the closed caption information should be - in theory - kept unaltered by the AVS2DVD operations and by the underlying muxing engine (MuxMan). This should also take care of the VBV potential issues raised elsewhere. Concerning the setting of the IFO flags, this operation should be also NOT NECESSARY, since the IFO files are produced directly by MuxMan, at the end of the muxing stage, in a way that makes these files consistent with the input assets. In other terms, if the m2v assets contains CC, MuxMan should detect this situation and should produce (together with the other files) also suitable IFO files. |

Sir,
Thanks! That's the best answer I've had. I will try again. It sounds like if I use muxman directly I can do it. I did look at muxman but found no mention of cc or user data. I had one hope that usiing ifoedit to set the flag would only be enabled if the input stream actually had cc data, so that would make more sense. |

@jmac698 I've not followed this thread very carefully, so maybe you have reasons for wanting to keep CC, but you do know don't you that a tool called CCextractor will readily convert closed captions to .srt files, which you can use to make conventional DVD subtitles.

@rendez2k
could you please post a screenshot of 'Edit Title'/'Audio' tab? I would like to understand how AVStoDVD has messed up the audio section of that mkv title... @Sir Didymus welcome back there, my friend! Bye |

@MrC
Thanks for the welcome... I have been totally absorbed by some personal and professional duties in the last months/years, but I am still following - in a more or less continuous way - the AVS2DVD developments, at least as a "silent" users... @laserfan Your suggestion is an excellent shortcut, however IMHO there are still very valid reasons and use cases for adopting CC in the DVD production. CC can be (optionally) showed TOGETHER - I mean, simultaneously - with a given subtitle stream. For instance, for hearing impaired people the CC is an optimal solution in order to preserve the original DVD content, including the original subtitles. There are no other ways, AFAIK, to present simultaneously two streams of subtitles: one - the classical subpictures - based on bitmaps, and the second - the CC - which is based on pure textual information... @rendez2k
I'm trying to replicate the issue with the sample files in my library, but I cannot. Do you have the possibility to upload somewhere a portion of the mkv? @Sir Didymus actually no big improvements in the past months... just some more encoding options and GUI maquillage. No progresses on the authoring side. I'm waiting for BatchMux native support to nested chapters menus Bye |

Ho, ho...
Sigh... I think I have to admit very frankly that I completely missed to make whatever improvement to the BatchMux frontend... I an not in the position to ensure anything... Please consider that the topic is much more complex than it may appear at a first glance... However, from an old PM discussion, I remind that the pending relevant improvements, from the authoring support side, are: 1. To save the BatchMux echo into a log file instead of using the stdout 2. To add audio/subs submenus for the language selection 3. To add chapters submenus, in order to select the chapters Is the above list still complete? Cheers, SD |

@Sir Didymus
I'm sure the topic is absolutely complex and I know (and appreciate) the scrupulous way you have developed BatchMux. No hurry, take your time, when the update will be ready, we will be here. And, sure, from my side the list is complete. I don't know if other users would require anything else... @rendez2k I would use Avidemux: - load the mkv - trim the first minute - select Copy Video and Audio (default) - select MKV as output format - save Avidemux could eventually fix mkv muxing errors (if any). Bye |

@rendez2k
bug found, it is releated to the combination of PAL-SpeedUp and DTS track. Next release will fix it. Now, as workaround, go to 'Preferences'/'Audio' and toggle off 'Keep AC3/DTS/MP2 DVD Compliant Audio', save as default and restart your project. Bye |

Hello there. I'm frustrated. I keep getting the "output video duration shorter than expected" error and I don't know why. As soon as I get the error, I choose not to continue, who would?, and I click 'no' which aborts the whole thing. I'm working with an MKV file, but I've also gotten the error with an mp4 video. Here's the log.
