Which Input Driver is better for Virtualdub2 (Windows XP)?

If my previous posts were any indication, I had some trouble with the "Requested frame not found" when I was convertitng on my Virtualdub2. I wasn't sure what caused this error but I was told that it might have something to do with input driver. I was told this but it wasn't until recently that I discovered it. After discovering the input driver option, I switched the input driver and I was able to convert my video just fine.

From I what I learned from that post
, there are two input drivers for Virtualdub2. There is the "Caching Input Driver" that can read most video containers. The other one is "Audio/Video interleave input driver (internal)" that can only read AVI files. The former "Caching Input Driver" is FFMPEG based and can read most files but I cannot use it to convert the files from AVI to MP4. The latter "Audio/Video interleave input driver (internal)" can read my files and convert AVI files just fine. I mostly use lossless codecs for AVI video captures and I want to convert to MP4 with the x264 codecs.

With all that said, what is better for my computer for seeking and conversion? And on Windows XP no less?

GAP,
I already gave you an ffmpeg script to batch convert all to AVI,
is way simpler than screwing around with awkward files.
Then can easily load them into VD2 as avi.
