So uh, I know MPC-HC and madVR is Windows only, but does anyone know if these wacky DXVA2 issues happen on Linux with whatever is their equivalent for hardware-accelerated video decoding? (I mean it can't be DXVA2 by definition of that the acronym stands for since DirectX is a Microsoft thing).

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if they happen on Linux with Nvidia GPUs since they use a proprietary driver, but Intel and AMD GPU drivers being part of mesa in the kernel directly makes me think that such issues would not exist since it's largely a driver-related issue on Windows. And because it's driver-related, I would think that the Linux driver for Intel and AMD would be a completely different implementation altogether considering how they are part of the kernel.

if they ask the GPU driver to do something like bit deep changing or chroma scaling yes they can have the same issue but why would a MPC-HC user in an MPC-HC thread care?

Because I use both Windows and Linux...?

(I have more PCs than my signature suggests; my Linux PCs are just not my primary media-consuming ones...currently at least)

It seems there is a bug in the latest build, it doesn’t seem to start in full screen if specified in the options. It only starts in full screen if fullscreen was on at last exit. If the last exit was windowed, the app starts windowed too, not full screen.

Even if you are not full screen when you last exit?

It might be a bug with the dark mode if you haven't it installed. [EDIT: no, it happens with dark mode disabled too].

I have this issue on two different installs (HTPC and laptop), so not sure what's causing it.

I have "launch in full screen" set in the options, and if I exit MPC and am not in full screen when I leave the app, the next time I play a file it's not full screen.

I never had this issue before, so not sure what's causing this.

Anyone else can reproduce?

Backup your settings to a reg file using built in back up function, then reset setting to default ones and configure new, you can go back to your settings if needed. Does the issue persist on your devices when configured new?

I have a question about youtube-dl integration.

Is there a way to reload currently opened remote video? Reload as in launch youtube-dl again to refetch a valid URL.

Use case: open Youtube video, leave it on pause for some time, URL expires. When you unpause or try to seek it MPC-HC fails to render a video or even freezes.

I know about CTRL+E but it's not "youtube-dl aware".

I cannot reproduce on my build. What number is your build?

1.8.8.234. But I tried to install 1.8.7 and it's the same. Something must be hosed in my settings. When I have a bit of time I'll try to reset to defaults and redo.

I do not know of a keyboard shortcut to do this, but in my experience MPC-HC retains the YouTube URL in the File -> Open File/URL, so just opening that dialog again and just pressing "OK" should do the trick.

...though I guess for a keyboard shortcut you could just use Ctrl+O and then press the enter key.

(I've used this when I've started watching a YouTube video only to realize that I want to change a youtube-dl setting, specifically I go into MPC-HC's options and change some youtube-dl setting and then do the File -> Open File/URL process without ever closing the stream or program window - sure enough the newly changed youtube-dl settings will be used when it re-opens the same stream).

Oh, I've thought about that initially but it doesn't work for my workflow at all.

Example: open YouTube video, pause it, minimize MPC-HC. Open and close 10 video files (or whatever the limit for recent files list), now back to that YouTube video, press Ctrl+O... Whoooops, original URL is no longer in the list. As it turns out MPC-HC constantly reloads that list from mpc-hc64.ini which is overwritten by other MPC-HC instances. It's kinda expected behaviour but it's PITA, I wish that list was cached or something.

I know clsid doesn't accept feature requests but I really hope Ctrl+E not being youtube-dl aware counts as bug. Or at least the fact that MPC-HC freezes if it tries to seek/play expired URL counts as one.

You can increase list size:
Options > Advanced > RecentFilesNumber
Or add to favorites:
Menu > Favorites

Then I would need to go through huge list and manually find one specific URL by its video ID because it's not the only one YouTube video in the list.

I would heavily prefer something less complex for such simple task as relaunching youtube-dl.

Is it possible to add more information of the video specs to the thumnbail sheets that mpc-hc generates? namely video/audio codecs and video framerate...

I am not interested in adding that. Someone else will have to implement it and submit a patch.

With mpcVR the OSD text doesn't appear in MPC-HC

Thanks for the integration of mpcVR renderer.
It works like a charm.

@filler56789
Latest MPC-HC version posted above, doesn't need to set mpcVR as an external filter and System Default as a renderer.
It supports directly the mpcVR and you can select it from the menu of renderers.

It's true although that most of the Renderer Settings and OSD do not work directly using MPC-HC menus and options or do not work at all, it's not a full integration.

You can select Show statistics from mpcVR properties directly while playing from Filters selection (right click on the screen -> Filters -> MPC Video Renderer -> Show statistics
