Yeah, I was a bit miffed when I found that out. Luckily it was on sale at Amazon so not an expensive mistake to make.

I would check your rips if you are getting macro blocking as my encode was identical to the source i had, you may have a bad rip.
Spent a few minutes checking the rip, then got fed up and gave up on it. I might return to this with a future version of BD-RB.

what's the recommended version?
thanks so much
I would update HAALI first, as that seems to be the most common source of issues with VC-1.

That's an error reported by TSMUXER when it attempts to demux. It's been a long time since I saw a report of that one -- but I think the other reports ended up being bad rips.

Is ultra high better than the very high setting or is it really not even worth the time and effort?

IMHO it is not worth the time involved, that's why I don't have it as a standard choice.

Added an "Automatic Quality Settings" option to the
"Encoder Settings" menu. When selected, BD-RB will
automatically make quality selections based upon the
type and size of output.
Could you please comment on this regarding BD25 output ? I have manually set custom size to 23900 MB and BD-RB now seems to always choose 1-pass ABR.
Is 1-pass ABR the preferred output choice for BD25 as i have choosen High Quality 2-pass for every encode before (well, that was the default setting..) ? Thanks a lot for your new version. Great prog.

That is my recommendation based on the output size -- you can, however, change it by unclicking "Automatic". You'll probably see some tweaking on the automatic settings over the next couple of versions.

Could there be a problem with subtitles and tsmuxer?
Sorry, i think it has nothing to do with your application.

The version of haali is the one you have for download in the first message of this thread. I hope this is ok.

@MvB

The most likely problem is the resizing to 720p. TSMUXER has issues trying to do so with certain subs and crashes in the process. I'd eliminate one sub at a time until I find the one that is causing the problem.

I have this listed in my "things to do" list -- and have already begun the encoding to do the sub resize myself, I just haven't gotten around to finishing it.

As long as you have installed the HAALI from the first post you should be fine. Apparently there is some way in which a new install of HAALI doesn't completely remove the old one and the checksum routine in INSPECT.EXE sees the install as a mismatch. If you completely uninstall HAALI and then clear it's folder followed by a reinstall it should fix it and get an "Ok".

[edit] Whoops, just noticed your edit... we're on the same wavelength.

Problem with Alvin and the Chipmunks - The Squeakuel

when adding the movie to batch, it removes the english ac3 audio from the first track, which is kept before adding to que, and it keeps the french and spanish track when they should not. seems to work ok when just doing a straight backup. no errors in the log file, using version 0.32.08 and tried 0.33.02. Any other info you need i'll try and help, just thought i would bring this up. Thanks for the awesome program

I'll relook at the way I'm keeping the stream selections in batch. One thing you have to be careful of, though, is that you put your job in the queue as soon as you've completed your settings. The settings in the queue represent a moment in time.

Another quick question:

With movies like The Godfather and Angels and Demons which have occasional subtitles throughout the movie, what is a good way to maintain them in backups or add them back in after the encoding job with BD RB is complete? I tried a backup of Godfather 2 and noticed that none of the foreign speech had subtitles.

You have to do a full backup and make sure you have selected the correct subtitle. I personally just always keep all the subtitles so I don't have to worry about it. If doing movie-only you have to find out which subtitle is the right one, and then right-click on the subtitle in the stream list and select "Turn subtitle ON"

Hi!

In your summary of changes for v.33.02 you list: "Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1510)"

Is this the same as: "rack04's build" of 1510?

To avoid further confusion I'll add that rack04 compiled a build answering to my request and PM'd me the exe... It is not published for download nor you'll find it anywhere around, but in the threads you follow, setarip. It is the regular x264 r1510 but without the ffmpeg/ffms2 + long start-code (just as all older builds).

@jdobbs, @deank

In light of how impressive both of your programs are and, still more impressively, how they continue to expand and improve, I (and, I presume the few others who use the two in conjunction as a means of creating HD-DVD videos) am more than happy to continue making the minor adjustments required in order to be able to continue to use them for this limited purpose conversion.

Congratulations to you both for continuing, "To go where no man has gone before" ;>}

It is the master build that is located at http://www.x264.nl. The Blu-ray changes and --nal-hrd capability have now been integrated into the master and are no longer required via patch.
