@kotik and robl45:
Does this 3D Problems happen with all mkv files? have you tried files created with newer version of makemkv? I ask because there where a bug with storing the left/right information in 3D movies. This bug was fixed since 1.10.2: Quote:

Anandtech reports that "the NUC6i5SYK [Skylake] has the most accurate display refresh rates of all the PCs that we have evaluated so far". I can only get 23.979 with 23.976 video material on a Samsung UHD TV that returns a refresh rate of 23.976 with a Haswell NUC D54250WYK.
It doesn't appear to matter which windowed mode I use I can only get 23.979 with the Skylake NUC. My preferred mode for the Haswell NUC is windowed overlay (Windows 7 and newer). Does anyone have a solution to enable 23.976 playback on the Skylake NUC? |

Just to let you guys know: I'm busy working on commercial stuff atm (have to earn my living, after all). There will be a new madVR version in maybe 2-3 weeks or so (maybe longer), with a brand new algorithm that you guys will probably like a lot.

I can test but I don't think that is the case, you may be right, but I'm watching from a projector and can easily swap the eyes from my glasses. I will test what you are describing and see if this is the case.

My I3 skylake does too although it barely processes madvr, gpu load ends up at 100% with all but basic settings. I asked before but if anyone has the perfect settings for internal GPU on Skylake, please let me know.

Tested straight Make MKV rip as well as the usual mvc encoded smaller versions that I normally use. Used lastest mkv this time. Still same issue. Last edited by robl45; 26th September 2016 at 11:49. |

I may end up installing Windows 10 just to test this. |

Agreed, just when I found a comfort zone with existing algorithms.
There is no holding back progress...

Is it possible to somehow render MadVR's output to a file or back into vapoursynth / avisynth or something?
I'm basically looking for a way to encode HDR clips / movies to regular SDR files in the way madVr does the converting / compression. It looks awesome (to me) and that way I can take the movies with me on tablet or in the non-HDR tv in the bedroom. I'm converting it now manually, and I tweak it manually with a final gamma adjustment and a levels/histogram adjustment to get it looking nice. But madVr's way is nicer, and my way probably works fine for shorter clips but for longer clips or full movies it will look nice in one part but horrible dark or bright in another part :S. |

Hey guys!
Spent a lot of time here some years ago, but my setup was stable for some time and I drifted away . Good to see some familiar names still here Anyway, just got myself an LG OLED 65 E6 and an RX-460, via a Yamaha 2060, so I'm back at the cutting edge trying to get 4K, high bit-depth etc. all working. Can I ask a few questions about MadVR as it is now (well I can ask, hopefully someone is happy to answer!) - How do you know you are getting the right bit depth with D3D9. D3D11 says "(10-bit)" but D3D9 just says "(new path)". 10-bit isn't limited to DX11 is it? - Trouble is JRiver seems to crash when I close a video with the DX11 path, app just freezes with the final frame and I have to use task manager to kill it. If this is a known issue with a solution it would be great to know . Any tips for best settings to use with the 460 and an LG 2016 OLED would also be much appreciated! |
