Dolby Vision and HDR10+ in one video
I have seen video info where it is both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ in one video track! Is that even possible? One encode, one track that is compatible with both formats?!
Video ID : 1 Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main 10@L5@Main HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible |

How? Playing DV on PC shows purple image but not this. How is it possible? It's one video track? Don't they have different color information?
Is there any threads discussing this? Last edited by Atlantis; 22nd June 2023 at 23:00. |

F.ex, if you play a DV file on a TV that only supports HDR10 but not DV, you'll only get the HDR10 part as it is a fallback of DV. |

Not only that but HDR10+ metadata is more complex and should be fully compatible with even more complex Dolby Vision v4 three part curve. |

The general interest in this approach is to have a backwards compatible HDR-10 with static metadata with both flavors of dynamic metadata included, so a TV that supports either HDR10+ or Dolby Vision Profile 8 would have dynamic tone mapping. That's probably over half the HDR TVs in homes today and probably >85% of 2024 TVs shipped. |

And remember kids, making up things and linking to random presentations that vaguely touch the topic make you appear pompous. |
