At least you'd be sure the problem does NOT come from Media Player Classic itself. Be ready for (another) fresh re-install of the OS, just in case... you really have to do that. :)

Just a wild guess: probably there is some driver or software which is conflicting with MPC(-HC). Have you tried to open a DVD in Windows Media Player? If even WMP is unable to play DVD-Video, then...
