Hello,
Very quickly, as usual for those interested in NHW, I have released the v0.3.0-rc45 new version, still fine-tuning the nhw_kernel weights for a better precision. Yes again this one is quite a slight incremental visual improvement. More at: https://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/ Cheers, Raphael |

Hello,
Very quickly, for those interested in NHW, I have released the v0.3.0-rc46 new version, always fine-tuning the nhw_kernel weights for a better precision and a better visual quality. I'll still try to improve precision, but I find that this new version has a good balance between neatness and precision. More at: https://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/ Cheers, Raphael |

Hello,
Very quickly and sorry for disturbing you, today it is exactly 18 years that I started the NHW codec, and as there is still absolutely no interest in the NHW technology in the industry after all these years and neither for the foreseeable future as AOM is engaged with AV2, MPEG with ECM/NNVC and JPEG with JPEG AI, I have to admit that I start to be quite discouraged now. Some people also start to tell me now to really slow-down my work on NHW and then move on to other more "healthy" thing (regarding my bad health). I wanted to thank very much the people who followed NHW, sadly I don't know you, yes I know this forum is not an airport, I don't have to announce my departure, but maybe v0.3.0-rc46 was my last version, hope some of you had fun with NHW! Cheers, Raphael |

Hello,
Very sorry for disturbing you, I realize I still need to develop (a little) on NHW, it's part of my balance for now... Very quickly, for those interested, I have released the NHW v0.3.0-rc47 new version, always fine-tuning the nhw_kernel weights for a better precision and a better visual quality. More at: https://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/ Thank you on this forum (and for your patience). Cheers, Raphael |

Hello,
Just to let you know that the last NHW v0.3.0-rc47 version can have a competitive precision now.I had in the past the reproach from some people of the industry that NHW lacked too much of precision, that is to say NHW lacked of fidelity compared to the original image, and was too much warped/deformed. I find that this is not true anymore, and if I wanted to be controversial, I find that on some of my images, at -q14 compression setting (which is rather high compression), NHW v0.3.0-rc47 would have now more precision than AVIF -s 0 (best quality) and VVC VTM 12.3 (slowest preset), that is to say that NHW resembles more to the original image than these codecs, always for my eyes and again I only tested deeply precision at -q14 setting... Anyway, yes this won't change industry's opinion on NHW, and I just wanted to rectify that this is absolutely not a problem, NHW is a good hobby for me, and that's the most important! Cheers, Raphael |

Hello,
Thank you for your advice. Actually my test images are not very good images, that I don't really want to show... I'll also maybe have to do that precision demo at higher compression, because a friend told me that at -q14 setting with my test images, for him NHW, AVIF and VVC are identical to the original image, he can not see visible differences... So I'll have to think a little more about making a proper precision demo. Cheers, Raphael |

Yeah, do that instead of posting hundreds of improvement claims nobody can comprehend,...
It would be wise to also create a demo which shows the evolution/improvements, especially to those who assume this to be vaporware since it only supports one resolution. Having a link 'An Image Comparison of NHW and x265' on your page which does not really improve credibility. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Hello,
Very quickly, for those interested, I have released the NHW v0.3.0-rc48 new version, always fine-tuning the nhw_kernel weights for a better precision and a better visual quality. I am quite tired currently, but as I am satisfied with this new version, maybe I'll release the final v0.3.0 version soon. More at: https://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/ Cheers, Raphael |
