I've seen several comments in various posts on PredictAndEncode errors, but not the one I'm getting.

I have a captured mpg file that plays fine and is clean by TSDoctor, but when I try to shrink it with BD-RB I get the above error as soon as Reencoding starts. I've tested two RB versions (0.39.01 and 0.39.02) and get the same error. I've successfully used BD-RB with similar files in the past so why it's happening now is a mystery (at least to me).


Thoughts?

It's been a few months since this was posted, but I ran into this error recently while testing and thought I'd post an answer.

You get this error when the source stream was encoded at a framerate that is not allowed in Blu-ray. Acceptable framerates are: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 50, 59.94 -- even then some are only compliant with certain frame sizes.

This is one more example of why I don't accept bug reports on preprocessed sources -- but I'll change the code so the source will be rejected rather than failure at this point.

I tried to encode Jaws first I used Dvdfab to remove protection and then in BD Rebuilder to encode. The movie is DTS HD 7.1, but when it is finished in BD Rebuilder it is DTS HD 5.1. Have I done something wrong in my settings?

Then you need to select "KEEP HD AUDIO for BD25" in the settings

Nothing has changed in that area in a long time... the audio should be simply extracted and remuxed. You could take a look at the .META files for the demuxing. If they don't say "down-to-dts" in the demux description for the audio track, they are being kept completely intact.

I've noticed a bug when converting mpeg2 files in some trailers sony discs, the mpeg2 file remains after the rebuild BD25, not become h264.

I would assume that's because those trailers don't get processed and therefore just get passed straight through with no re-encoding

BD Rebuilder tries to save time by ignoring smaller files that will have little or no impact and passing them through intact. You get get around that by setting the minimum M2TS size (see HIDDENOPTS.TXT). But doing so really doesn't accomplish much... MPEG-2 is completely compatible with the blu-ray standard too.

MIN_M2TS_SIZE=1 n = minimum size required for BD-RB processing in MB, default is 100

By dialing 1, then encode all mpeg2 files, right?

mb to get some more for the BD25 .... it will be very little extra space, but it's something. q I do not care take longer to encode.

The space saved will be so negligible it's not worth it, it won't get you a better quality main movie from what you save, it will just give you a little bit more empty space on the disc

Not really, 50MB will make no difference to the quality, maybe if you were saving a GB or 2 then that might make a difference, but 50MB or so won't

OK, waste your time, it will make either no or so little difference that it's not worth it. I doubt it will even effect the encoding bitrate unless you get 100's of MB's out of it
