Ahh... that makes a difference. NVENCC doesn't actually have the ability to do the job and keep the video intact (it has to encode the video). So when you select "Keep Intact" for the video, the job is, in fact, being done by FFMPEG. I'll check the code and make sure FFMPEG is correctly handling the SRTs that are being created. I probably didn't test that scenario well enough.

I'll take a look at it and let you know what I find.

Heh, I'm sorry Bro, but not getting any prompts for replies from Doom9, which I know it's been that way forever, I forgot to come back and check for comments, my humble apologies.

I don't think I have any of the snippets anymore, although I do have the original messed up HD file. I can extract and post another snippet if you wanna mess around with it. When I got it as good as I did I guess after spending all the hours and hours on it, I was done!

UHD blu-ray disc to BD25.. didn't work for me +HDR

Hi all
Can someone confirm whether it is possible to to encode a UHD 4K disc to a BD25 through the ALTERNATE MOVIE-ONLY setting within BD-RB.. version 0.61.28

AND IF SO based on my details below -
1. tell me where am I going wrong.?!
2. please point me in the right direction
cheers CD

I think I am following the current suggested process but ended up with an .mkv file of only 2.56gb and the colours/tones are all washed out.!

Don't select ALTERNATE OUTPUT. That is for sending to an MKV, MP4, etc. Select either FULL BACKUP or MOVIE-ONLY BACKUP (and uncheck ALTERNATE OUTPUT). You should also make sure you have OUTPUT set to BD-25.

Hi there again... I must be doing something weird..! or perhaps didn't explain correctly...

The file output was the right size for a BD-25 and the HDR tones/colours are correct... but it is still 2160p HEVC/265.

I was expecting 1080p and AVC/264.

here is the BD-REBUILDER log

Not gonna happen. By specification, HDR is only available in 2160p/HEVC. Streamed MKV files can be 1080p/HDR, but can only be HEVC. That is because HDR is only available in HEVC. The H.264 spec does not support HDR.

What have you got against 2160p?

Hi there Mr.V.. thanks for the confirmation.
Nothing against HEVC, but my older player will not play it, only 264 flavour discs and files.. So wondering about the possibility of creating 4K in a 264 jacket, tis all..
cheers CD

I'm sure you want to figure out the weird subtitles/chapters mashup on that probably 1 off use case.

Can you consider an Alternate Movie-only option for the alternate.txt file that does no video encode and just a straight video intact (like the intact audio one) or is there a trick with existing options or a combination of them I could use to accomplish that that I'm missing? If that was possible then the existing BDRB setup checkbox for converting subtitles via SubtitleEdit would accomplish the PGS to SRT conversion like it does beautifully on all the other alternate encode options which is my end goal.

What I started off trying was the Movie-only option but the subtitles don't convert in that mode and I'm guessing the reason why is then the resultant BD structure wouldn't be Blu-ray compliant anymore with SRT instead of PGS subtitles?

Also the intact audio option that's limited to .mkv's could probably have the restriction lifted since .mp4's no longer have those audio problems I've found.

PM if interested in the 'why', I'm stumbled across something pretty interesting but I don't want to load up the thread

While I hate to say this, but get a new player. I suspect that your player won't even play MKV/MP4 files with 2160p/H264. You can use the NVENCCRE program to recode the 2160p/HEVC to 1080p/H264, you will not have HDR. Frankly I do not know if BDRB can be configured to do a disc backup and recode the 2160p/HEVC to 1080p/H.264.

If you have a display that can do 2160p/HEVC/HDR, then you really need to get a new player.

Thank you for the new function to keep the original video intact while converting the audio in NVENCCRE v0.10.12. But there is a bug where the internal subtitles are not kept.

Yeah. I think I need to do some serious work on the "keep video intact" option.

But, just in case:

1. Is "Keep Internal Subtitles" checked?
2. Under "Special Processing" do you have the subtitle language selected?

Yes on mine as well in special processing section, except it had the convert DVD/BD subtitle to SRT checked which was the only processing I was shooting for

I just tried several sources in which I am keeping video intact and reencoding audio to AC3 (like your post) using NVENCCRE. In every case, as long as the language has been selected, it is keeping the internal subtitle. Can you tell me what kind of subtitle your source files are using, what language they are, and what languages you have selected?

Well... looking at the code it looks like I never got around to adding the ffmpeg command line options that actually include the converted (SRT) subtitles that have been created from the graphical subs when using "Keep Original Video" is selected!! I guess that's what happens when you start something and then not go back to it for a while.
