Browse the left column of categories. Each item has a list of options that will populate in the right pane. As I recall, the thing you want is in the Performance category. Just look around in those categories and you will find it.

Hi everyone
I have an issue that I'm trying to to solve convert VFR to CFR (59.940) from a video recording (MOV format) of an Iphone, this is the mediainfo: Code:

Is there a cleaner way to do it with Staxrip? |

StaxRip

Convert to MKV first. Anyway you can extract timestamps from MOV too.

It's not "only work for MKV", it takes the timecode file in the MKV format. (matroska timecodes format v2)
If no timecodes file provided then even MKV won't work. The video file format does not matter, it will be already decoded raw data at that point. Extracting timecodes from other formats in MKV format is possible and pretty easy. The example from the plugin actually works for MP4/MOV as well. https://github.com/Asd-g/TimecodeFPS...odefps.txt#L68 Other method can be Code:
ffmpeg -i input.mov -fps_mode passthrough -f mkvtimestamp_v2 timecodes.txt Last edited by Z2697; 22nd December 2025 at 16:34. |

Thanks for the tip, however Staxrip alert about to use MKV as Input source and cannot continue if another format is loaded to use timecodeFPS module. |

Anyone noticed using this latest version of staxrip when converting it's slowing down after a few minutes? I have noticed it doing it and thought what was happening well when I looked at my drive it looked like it went offline and after a 5 or so seconds it come back on again and staxrip continued converting!! it's only doing this when using staxrip I tried several other applications and not once did the drive go offline.

i haven't used staxrip in a long time, i heard something about Auto CRF (VMAF scanning), where using something like SVT-AV1-HDR along with VMAF scoring can setup a auto chain where the encoder will using the VMAF score set the CRF value on the encoder.
was wondering has anyone got any advice/feedback how that can be done in StaxRip, even if i don't end up using it, i'm fascinated by the concept and would like to play around with it. i have tried getting it working, but getting confused with it, i'm reading that EVENT COMMANDS is needed, but then i read something about adding this tool ab-av1 which does the VMAF scoring? |

Good morning.
Regarding x265 encoding, I would like to ask if there is a reliable procedure for estimating the bitrate within the same preset by setting a specific CFR. I imagine that to do this I would have to encode a large part of the file and see the bitrate value produced, but this would take a long time. Thank you.

Hi everyone. Relatively new to Staxrip.
So far so good. I love the fact you have all the Vapoursynth filters. I've only been using it for one video at a time, but now I want to process a folder full of videos and having a heck of time figuring it out. When I configure one video in the way I want all of them to go, it says I cannot save it as a project template with a video loaded. However with nothing loaded, I have no audio, subtitles or anything else TO configure as a template. What is the preferred method? For example, these are DVD's with light autocropping, so the end result might need to be ~704x480 anamorphic, but the program defaults are 1920x1080 progressive when you start it up... so not sure how to pick my parameters without something to bounce against. |
