Ultra HD Blu-ray compliance
I searched a lot, but still have to find out a document about technical data compliance - like resolutions, bitrates, codecs etc.
I know that, for UHD, HEVC 10bit is used, but I'm curious to know if it's possible to use also HEVC 8bit or even AVC 8bit. Thanks! |

Only HEVC 10 bit is possible for UltraHD resolution. (1080p+AVC are allowed on UltraHD BluRay e.g. for extras)

So to have a shortcut:
One can encode/mux MPEG-4AVC 8-bit into UHD-BD if content is SDR 1920x1080x23.976 or 24.000 Table 2-2 includes HEVC and MPEG-4AVC for primary video streams. Table 2-3 restricts use of MPEG-4AVC for 1920x1080 @ 23.976 and 24.000 fps only. Paragraph 3.9 (Page 41) specifies MPEG-4AVC as valid for SDR.
