Is Hitachi VL-S100 SVHS VCR w/TBC of any use digitizing SVHS tapes?

People have talked about using components with TBC in passthru to stabilize video. I found this portable and it sounded like it might be useful.

I did not realize it only supports SP, so I can't capture my EP tapes.

But what about the TBC?
